Your Role: Engineer (Android)

As an Android Engineer at Target, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing the development of Android applications used across Target’s enterprise devices. You will help enhance our custom Mobile Device Management (MDM) agent and other client-side tools to keep thousands of corporate and frontline devices secure, compliant, and high-performing.

Working alongside senior engineers and cross-functional teams, you’ll gain hands-on experience developing scalable, impactful software that supports Target’s operations in stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices.

What You’ll Do:

• Build and optimize Android applications and components used across the enterprise
• Contribute to the design, architecture, and development of new features in the MDM agent
• Maintain high standards of code quality, testability, and performance
• Work closely with team members during code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies
• Help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to device performance and compliance
• Contribute to continuous improvement in the mobile platform's stability, scalability, and maintainability

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ year of professional experience in Android development
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
• Solid foundation in Kotlin and Android SDK components
• Familiar with Android architectural patterns like MVVM or Clean Architecture
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and modern networking libraries
• Exposure to Jetpack libraries and asynchronous programming techniques
• Familiarity with Git version control and build tools like Gradle
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
